What is social commerce?

Social commerce is buying that starts on social media: a recommendation, a story, a video, then the order. It comes in two forms: selling built into the platforms, like TikTok Shop, and selling through creators who recommend products to their audience. Kayba is a social commerce platform for Shopify brands: every creator gets a storefront, and the order goes to the brand.

How do I do social commerce on Shopify?

On Kayba, you connect your store and your catalog syncs. Your creators add your products to their storefronts and share their link. The customer pays in the storefront, the order is created in your Shopify, and the commission is paid once the order ships.

Which tool gives my ambassadors their own storefront?

On Kayba, every creator gets a storefront when she signs up. She adds the products from your catalog that you make available, sorts them into collections and shares one link. Recruiting, groups and commissions are set in your ambassador program.

How are sales attributed to a creator?

The sale happens in her storefront, so it's tied to her automatically: no code to enter, no click to track back to your site. Commission is calculated on the order, excluding shipping, and paid once the order ships.

Is the customer sent to my site?

No. She pays in the creator's storefront, by card, through Stripe. The order is then created in your Shopify and you ship it like any other.

How is this different from TikTok Shop?

TikTok Shop has people buy inside TikTok. A creator's Kayba storefront is her own page, which she shares on all her channels, and your orders land in your Shopify.

Can I offer a discount just for my creators' storefronts?

Yes. Create a discount that applies automatically in their storefronts, for your whole program, one group or a few creators. If you add a code, it also works on your Shopify site.

Do creators have to disclose the partnership?

Yes. Under the FTC's Endorsement Guides, a commission or a free product is a material connection, so the post has to disclose it clearly, for example with #ad. This answer is for information only and isn't legal advice.

Does Kayba work without Shopify?

Not yet. Kayba connects to Shopify stores only. That's what lets it create the order in your store, brand by brand.
