What is an affiliate platform?
An affiliate platform connects a brand with the people who recommend its products, ties every sale to the right affiliate and calculates their commission. Kayba is an affiliate platform for Shopify brands: every affiliate gets her own page, the order lands in your Shopify and Kayba pays the commission once you ship. Classic affiliate links are included too, and the same tool handles gifting and UGC.
What is a brand ambassador program?
A brand ambassador program lets a brand recruit customers and creators who recommend its products to their audience over time, in exchange for free products, a commission on sales, or both. Kayba runs the ambassador program for Shopify brands: the pages, the orders and the commission payouts.
What's the difference between an ambassador program and an affiliate program?
An affiliate program pays for a sale driven by a link or a code, and that's the whole relationship. An ambassador program adds time: free products, content, an ongoing conversation with the brand. On Kayba the two meet: ambassadors earn a commission on their sales and get your products in the same program.
How do I run an affiliate program on Shopify?
On Kayba, you connect your store and your catalog syncs. Each ambassador adds your products to her page and shares her link. On every sale, the order is created in your Shopify and the commission is calculated from the ambassador's group.
Where does the customer pay?
On the ambassador's page, by card, through Stripe. The order is then created in your Shopify and you ship it like any other. If the order can't be created, the customer is refunded automatically. Prefer the sale to happen on your own site? Kayba also creates classic affiliate links, and a discount code used on your site triggers the ambassador's commission too.
When does the ambassador get paid?
Once the order ships from your Shopify. Kayba then pays her commission to her Stripe account and your share to yours. You don't send any payments.
What commission rate should I set?
In beauty, commission rates usually fall between 10 and 20% of the sale price. The right rate comes from your margin. On Kayba, you set one rate per group.
How much does an ambassador program cost?
Three lines: the commissions paid on sales, the free products, and the software. On Kayba, the program comes with Essential at €77/mo billed yearly, and all fees are listed on the pricing page.
Do ambassadors have to disclose the partnership?
Yes. Under the FTC's Endorsement Guides, a commission or a free product is a material connection, so the post has to disclose it clearly, for example with #ad. This answer is for information only and isn't legal advice.
Does Kayba work without Shopify?
Not yet. Kayba connects to Shopify stores only. That's what lets it create the order in your store and pay commissions once you ship.
